Freedom and log hives; rewilding the honey bee

Below is a gallery of some of the hives that are being set up across the United Kingdom, for the bees to self-populate and thrive without our intervention.

  1. We are an organic farm. We are fotunately situated next to a farm that does not use pesticides etc on their grass and a lot of Forestry Commission woodland and only come into contact with conventional farms on our northern and southern edge. We have lived here for 30 years and since around 1920 a colony of bees has lived in the two dormer roofs over the stone bays.
I would be very interested in having some log hives on the farm. I kept bees over 40 years ago in Kent and would love to keep them again.
